The Geiss Hsu Foundation makes awards twice a year for publication subventions and projects.
Subvention awards support not-for-profit academic presses in publishing books, including the open-access publication of new titles, that align with the Geiss Hsu Foundation’s mission and goals.
Project awards help fund activities that confirm the Geiss Hsu Foundation’s mission, such as academic conferences, workshops (including manuscript review workshops), K-12 outreach, exhibitions, performances, the open-access publication of previously-published books, and other types of projects that do not necessarily fall into these categories.
An organization may apply for multiple awards per application cycle, and a previous award from the Foundation will not preclude an applicant from receiving future awards. Past awardees are encouraged to apply for awards to deepen the impact of previously-funded publications or projects (for instance, applying to make open access a book the Foundation funded through a subvention award, or applying for funds to publish an edited volume of papers presented at a workshop funded by the Foundation).
If you have questions about whether your publication or project might qualify for an award, please contact info@geissfoundation.us.
Deadlines are September 1 and March 1.
Please thoroughly review the Geiss Hsu Foundation’s mission statement and the guidelines for subvention awards or project awards before applying.
